Finished in a striking Medium Bright Yellow, this classic Mustang features its original Black Vinyl bucket seats and interior. Factory-equipped with Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Sport Deck Rear Seat, Console, NASA-style Hood Scoops, and a 2.79 Conventional Rear Axle. It also sports period-correct American Racing Ansen Sprint polished alloy wheels, added as a tasteful retro upgrade.
Calling this Mach 1 a one-of-a-kind example doesn’t quite capture its uniqueness. It was bought new by its first and owner in 1972, and has had only 2 owners since which is a rarity in itself. The second long term owner had a fascinating career as a special effects engineer working on multiple Bond films — including key work on the BMW Z8 cars featured in The World Is Not Enough.
An interesting twist: in Die Another Day, there’s a scene with Bond’s Aston Martin Vantage chased across ice by a Jaguar XKR. Jaguar provided eight XKR cars for the film, and the owner acquired one of them. That particular Jaguar was later fitted with a Ford 302 engine, which after filming was swapped into this Mach 1. The engine was subsequently upgraded and finely tuned and has only covered minimal mileage since.
In 2013, the car underwent a full bare-metal restoration by specialist Mustang experts, returning it to its original factory colour and adorned with the correct Mach 1 decals. This meticulous restoration cost £25,000 and the car remains in exceptional condition today.
It comes with an extensive history file, including MOT certificates and paperwork dating back to the 1970s, a US Marti report, and original Mustang and Holley manuals — reflecting the owners involvement in development work for Holley. Additionally, there are over 20 folders documenting the detailed work the owner carried out to enhance and perfect this Mustang.
